Natural gas distribution plan for Ashdod factories completed

The natural gas distribution system in Ashdod will supply gas to all major industrial plants in the town, thereby substantially reducing their energy costs.

The Natural Gas Authority, with the help of Yanai Information Resources Management and Business, AB Technon - Architecture Consultation Engineering, and the Gastec Group from the Netherlands, has completed its initial natural gas distribution plan for industrial plants in Ashdod. The plan is Israel’s first for distributing natural gas to industrial enterprises. The gas is designated to replace crude oil and other more expensive and more polluting energy sources.

The plan was recently presented to Ashdod Mayor Zvi Tsilker, who regards the switch to gas as a key for industrial development. According to the Natural Gas Authority, the plan, the first of its kind in Israel, is part of a general design for natural gas distribution systems for all large-scale industrial enterprises and consumers, in the context of the economic transition to natural gas.

The natural gas distribution system in Ashdod will supply gas to all major industrial plants in the town, thereby substantially reducing their energy costs. The switch to natural gas will also give the town cleaner air.

The Ashdod municipality and the Natural Gas Authority plan to promote rapid approval of the plan, and operate a distribution system in 2005, with the completion of the natural gas pipeline north of Ashdod.
