Nezavisne Novine - September 4, 2004

Sarajevo – Yassin A.A. Kadi, the close associate of Al Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden, is the owner of “Risala” Company seated in the Grbavica local community in Sarajevo. The Risala Company was registered in the Sarajevo Cantonal Court in 2002 and its founder is Yassin A. A. Kadi from Jedahh, Saudi Arabia.

The executive order of the US President, George Bush, issued on October 12, 2001, marked Saudi businessman Yassin A. A. Kadi, as the person who is financing Osama Bin Laden’s terrorist network, Al Qaeda.

About a month ago, the FBiH Financial Police started an investigation of Risala Company’s business, which is also founder of the elementary school in Grbavica.

Nezavisne Novine collocutor from the international community said that financial police is investigating whether the Risala Company was only a cover-up for financing terrorist activities and money laundering. The Head of the BiH Prosecutor’s Special Department for Organized, Economic Crimes and Corruption, John McNair, said that investigation is being carried out inline with a UN Resolution requesting all countries to break paths from financing Al Qaeda terrorist network, but he failed to comment on the investigation of Risala.

The BiH Security Minister, Barisa Colak, claims that security agencies in BiH are monitoring persons believed to have connections with terrorists. “It is not a secret that we are monitoring certain people, but I can not say which people. The reason for these activities is a possibility that those people are connected with terrorism,” Colak explained. After several attempts we were not able to reach Muharem Hodzic, the Risala Elementary School Principal, and Basel Suleimani, who is listed as the Director of Risala Company.
